How to Tie Wobbler Flies
Things You'll Need
- 4/0 to 8/0 hook
- Wobbler
- Fly forceps and vise
- Thread
- Heckle feathers
- Marabou
- Needle nose pliers
- Fly wax or fly cement
Instructions

1
Grip the hook in the vise and place the Wobbler near the eye of the hook. Criss-cross thread between the hook shank and the Wobbler so it stays at the end of the hook, perpendicular to the shank.
-
2
Wrap the end of the shank at the Wobbler end with several layers of the fly thread.
-
3
Bend the shank of the Wobbler side of the hook down to an angle between 15 to 35 degrees. The sharper the angle, the greater to movement in the water.
-
4
Add heckle to the end of the hook, above the Wobbler. Wrap it with thread so it forms a tail extending out from the fly hook.
-
5
Place the marabou on the shank and wrap so it creates several rounds going down the length of the fly.
-
6
Add fly wax or cement at the narrow waists between the rounds. Fluff the heckle and marabou to gain the shape wanted for the Wobbler fly.
