How to Tie a Foam Cricket
Fly fishing requires a lot of different bait, depending on the type of fish you are trying to catch. But with so much different bait to tie on, specifics about each might get lost in the wind. Before going out to the rivers, catch up on different tying techniques, so you do not get hung out to dry. Foam cricket baits are most commonly used to catch panfish. You want the end product to look as though it is a real cricket, and tying the bait correctly is key in achieving this goal.
Things You'll Need
- 10-14 size dry fly hook

Instructions

-
1
Tie the black drubbing about two-thirds of the way on the hook.
-
2
Tie a small strip of black foam to the drubbing with fishing line. Wind the line toward the blunt end of the hook and tie the foam in again.
-
3
Bring the line to the area with the first initial tie for the drubbing and bend the foam backwards toward the hook tip and tie it again.
-
4
Take the colored foam and tie in a small piece on top of the black foam so it is easily spotted in the water.
-
5
Use the rubber legs to tie spread eagle on either side of the foam. Take another piece of line and tie off a portion of the foam to look like a head.
