1
Overlap the two free ends of a length of small-diameter cord or strip of leather. Pull the free ends of the cord or leather past each other so they overlap and form a double length of 6 to 8 inches.
-
2
Hold the rope or leather in the middle where it crosses so that you have two free ends of the cord or leather strip. Turn one of the free ends, or working free end, back toward the middle forming a loop.
-
3
Wrap the working free end, that was turned back, around the main length of leather or cord alongside it three times.
-
4
Feed the working free end of the line through the small loop that was formed when the cord or leather was turned back earlier. Pull the cord or leather through the loop and tighten.
-
5
Repeat the tying process with the other free end of the cord or leather. The end result is a closed loop with two adjustable knots. Trim any excess cord or leather from the knots with scissors.
