1
Place the #10 hook into the fly tying forceps. Place at least 10 to 12 wraps of the black thread around the base of the hook.
-
2
Wrap the turkey feather to the back of the hook, just above the curl on the hook's barb. Use a small thread of the ice dub around the end of the feather where it attaches to the hook.
-
3
Place the turkey biots on either side of the black biot near the end of the feather and hook and wrap it two to three times around the hook to secure it.
-
4
Slide the copper wire under the wraps so it sticks out from the back of the end of the hook at the feathers. Make sure the wire sticks out no longer than 1 inch from the feathers and hook.
-
5
Place the hen hackle feather to the top of the wire, fluff it out and then wrap it around three to four times it to secure it to the hook fly.
-
6
Bend and wrap the copper wire in a spring-like coil along the hook's surface, so it secures the hen hackle solidly into position. Fluff out the hen hackle one last time. Remove the fly from the forceps and see if it gets you a nice lunker trout.
