1
Spread the blanket or tarp on the ground. For larger blankets, fold the blanket into a 5-foot square. Spread the items to be carried evenly across the blanket. No item should be closer than a few inches to any edge of the blanket. If possible, wrap hard-edged items such as boxes or knives in soft items such as articles of clothing or gloves.
-
2
Fold the edges of the blanket a few inches in toward the center. This will help to seal the edges of the roll and result in a more secure pack roll.
-
3
Starting at one edge, tightly roll the blanket into a cylinder. Continue rolling until you reach the other edge, creating a compact roll 5 feet long.
-
4
Tie short lengths of rope or twine securely a few inches from each end of the blanket. No items should be between the rope and the outside edge of the roll. Tie short lengths of rope or twine around the middle of the roll, spacing the ties 1 foot apart.
-
5
Bend the pack into a horseshoe shape and tie the ends together using a short length of twine or rope.
