How to Make Yourself Visible at a Night Time Hike

Night time hikes near mountain trails and in the wilderness require more care and planning. Not only do your eyes need to adjust, but also your nose and your ears need to adjust to the limited smells and sounds produced during night. Anytime you venture out into the night, it is best to wear clothing that reflects light, such as bright oranges, reds and yellows. Wearing darker hues, such as blacks, blues and purples will limit your visibility at night and can increase your risk of getting hurt.

Wear bright colored pants and shirts. When you wear bright colors, the light produced by the stars and moon reflect the colors, helping you become visible. If you are wearing dark colors, the eyes cannot pick up the color due to the lack of light.

Place the LED runners vest on top of the bright colors. LED vests reflect light from the bright color fabric the vests are made with. Each time light hits the vest, you become visible up to a mile away. In addition, the vests come with LED lights on the front and back to show motorists that you are on a hike or walk.
