How to Size a Western Saddle Pad
A properly sized saddle pad is essential for your horse's comfort and safety during a ride. If your saddle pad is too small, your horse will not be protected from the rough underside of your saddle, and it can suffer serious saddle sores. If your saddle pad is too big, it will rub against your horse's sides while absorbing your horse's sweat, causing chaffing. When shopping for a saddle pad, it is important to pick a size that fits your saddle.
