How to Replace a Hoyt Z3 Cam
Hoyt compound bows, like all compound bows, use a series of pulleys and cams to actuate the string and release. The cams are the round internal cylinders of the pulleys and are essential for the mechanical advantage a compound bow uses for the draw back and pressured release. Hoyt designs its bows to be accessible for the layperson to do repairs such as cam replacement or maintenance with a minimum of tools and know how.

2
Insert the hex wrench into the center hex screw at the cam and turn it counterclockwise until it is loose enough to remove the screw and cam by hand.
-
3
Place the replacement cam into the cam housing and push the screw into the center of the new cam.
-
4
Turn the cam screw clockwise using the hex wrench to tighten the cam into the housing and pulley.
-
5
Loop the string back up and through the pulleys and cams. Tension the string to your preferred settings using the rod tensioner in the center of the bow.
