Step-by-Step How to Skin a Rabbit

Rabbits are a common target for beginning hunters because they can be found in a variety of places and there often is an abundance of them. Some people prefer targeting rabbits with shotguns or other firearms, while others prefer baiting and trapping them. No matter how they kill them, hunters and trappers should know how to skin the rabbits so they can cook them.

Instructions

    • 1

Grab one of the rabbit's back legs with one hand. Use your other hand to grab a handful of skin around the animal's ankle. Twist until the skin breaks free of the ankle. Repeat on the rabbit's other leg.

    • 2

Pull the skin down the legs and peel it off until you are at the head.

    • 3

Cut off the rabbit's head and four feet with a game shears.

    • 4

Insert a knife into the rabbit's belly and cut through its pelvis and toward its anus. Cut the other direction, too, through its rib cage and toward the neck.

    • 5

Reach into the rabbit's neck and pull out its windpipe.

    • 6

Pull the innards of the rabbit out of the body.
