How to Take the String Off of an Excalibur Crossbow

In order to keep an Excalibur crossbow string in proper form it needs to be removed after each session. In addition to removing the string, it is important to not store the crossbow in a hot environment with the string attached, as that leads to stretching. Removing the string is a quick and simple procedure. It is important to remove the dissipator pads from the bow prior to taking off the string. Dissipator pads absorb vibrations and keep the bow viable.

Instructions

    • 1

Pry the dissipator pads off of the outer tips of the bow. The dissipator pads are on the top of the tips and wrap around the string nocks.

    • 2

Stand with the crossbow facing the ground and hold it between your legs. Reach down and tug up and out on the lower string.

    • 3

Move two fingers under one side of the string at the nock on the bow shaft. Pull the string up and off the nock. This releases the opposite side as well.

    • 4

Pull the opposite side string up and out of the nock and remove the entire string set by unthreading it through the pulleys.
