1
Watch the deer in a deer stand during the off season to see what sort of movement pattern they have. You will want to plant the corn near a natural deer trail that goes between dens and watering holes. This will encourage the deer to visit the corn edge in an environment they are already comfortable with.
-
2
Choose an area for your corn edge or patch that will be far enough from a road and other people to keep from spooking the deer. Stay out of sight as much as possible to avoid scaring the deer off from the area altogether.
-
3
Plant the corn in whatever pattern you wish. If you just want to lure them to the area, a corn edge will provide them with enough cover to feel secure enough to come out and graze. Plant a patch or a field to encourage deer to return each year to the same spot. They will eat pretty much any type of corn that is planted.

4
Set up a stand near the standing corn to watch them feed. You will learn their patterns, which makes it easier to get a deer when hunting season begins. Deer use the standing corn as cover to avoid being seen while they feed at night. If they feel really secure they will venture out in the daytime to eat in the cover of a standing corn plot.
-
5
Replant the standing corn if you have success at feeding deer in the area you chose. If the deer are scarce, scout out another area that may have less traffic so as not to spook the deer.
