1
Select a pigeon trap. Estimate the amount of birds that need capturing to determine the correct size of trap. For less than 12 birds, bob-type traps have walk-in and low profile varieties, as well as funnel traps. For a large-scale pigeon problem a loft trap could be necessary, but these traps take up space and generally require assembly on location.

2
Select a location. Trap on the ground where pigeons feed or on a flat roof where they nest.
-
3
Pre-bait the infested location a week prior to setting up a trap. Leave bait where the trap will sit so that the birds get in the habit of expecting food in that location. Corn, popcorn and breads make enticing bait for pigeons.
-
4
Set up the trap after a week of pre-baiting. If the trap sits in direct sunlight, it may be advantageous to put a cover over it to provide comfort to any birds inside. Most traps will hold several pigeons, so remember to replenish the food and water in the trap daily. Check on the birds every 24 hours.

Let the trap work for 3 days. Relocate the trapped pigeons in consultation with your local bird protection organization. If other pigeons remain, pre-bait for another week and begin again.
