How to Lace Up Ice Skates for Xtreme Ice Skating

Xtreme ice skating is an amalgamation of several tricks, maneuvers and styles from several sports including those from skateboarding, figure skating and from hockey. According to Dan Perceval, founder of Xtreme ice skating, the sport helps one to overcome fears, as well as learning to become an individual, leader, entertainer and an inspiration to others. Lacing up skates for Xtreme ice skating is performed much in the same fashion as with hockey or traditional figure skating. Both Hockey skates and figure skates can be worn for Xtreme ice skating.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the lace through the grommet located closest to the toe. Thread the lace across to the opposing grommet. Pull up on both sides of the lace and ensure that both sides are even. Lace through the remaining grommets just as you would with an ordinary sneaker.

    • 2

Insert your foot unto the skate. Grab and pull up tightly on the third row of cross-lacing -- closest to the toe -- while simultaneously pushing down into the skate with your foot. This will tighten the lacing against the toe.

    • 3

Repeat this process with each consecutive row of cross-lacing until you reach the top grommets. Once you've reached the top, cross the laces over and pull-- as in the beginning phase of tying a bow-knot -- then cross over once more and pull tight.

    • 4

Pull up on the laces tight while simultaneously pushing down with your foot. Repeat this step twice more or until you feel the laces tight against your leg.

    • 5

Wrap the laces back around the boot. Bring the laces back to the front of the boot and pull tight. Repeat the double lace cross as in Step 4. Pull up tight while simultaneously pushing down with your foot. Tie a double-bow-knot to secure the lacing.
