1
Measure and cut two squares of fabric that match the size you want. For example, if you're making a quilt for a small area, like a twin bed or to use as a throw, measure the squares to 4 feet by 4 feet.
-
2
Place one of the squares of fabric with the print side facing downward in front of you. Select any type of fabric you want. Colors, textures and qualities vary immensely so part of the fun is choosing which type you like most. You can even get fabric that looks quilted to make your quilt more attractive and authentic looking.

3
Cover the layer of fabric with a layer of cotton batting measuring an inch smaller on all sides. The fabric needs to be bigger by an inch on all sides of the batting for sewing and gluing needs. The cotton batting can be as thick as you want, 1 to 8 inches if you want.
-
4
Fold the excess inch of fabric on all sides of the square inward until it nearly overlaps the cotton batting centered over the fabric. Squeeze a line of fabric glue over the folded edges all the way around. Fabric glue varies in type, and some types are of industrial strength, meaning they are as strong as stitches and are durable. Use a durable brand of fabric glue according to glues available at a sewing supply shop or online vendor.

5
Place the second sheet of fabric in front of you with the print side facing downward. Fold all of the edges of the fabric inward by 1 inch. This is to mimic what was done with the other sheet. Flip the second piece of fabric over the first, encasing the batting. This also adheres the folded edges of both sheets of fabric together. Press along the edges around the quilt, to further adhere the glue to the fabric. Let it dry for two hours. This creates a simple and easy quilt.
