How to Mount Two Water Bottles Along With Your Saddle Bag

Heading out for a bicycle ride requires water and tools. These are carried on the bicycle via mounts and special saddle bags that go under the seat. Both are attached to the bicycle at the same time, allowing fluids and tools to come with you on the ride. Special mounting brackets are available so two bottles are carried at the same time along with the saddle bag. Attach these at the trailhead or in your home workshop prior to the ride.

Things You'll Need

  • Hex wrenches
  • Seat stem water bottle mount bracket (dual bottle)

Instructions

  1. Saddle Bag

    • 1

Open the hook-and-loop fabric strap on the top of the saddle bag; some bags have two. If yours has two bags, open both. Thread the straps through the rails under the bicycle seat.

    • 2

Pull the straps down and attach them together, closing the hook-and-loop fabric.

    • 3

Fill with the tools and gear. The result is the saddle bag under the seat, with the wedge under the curve of the seat.

    Water Bottle Bracket

    • 4

Unscrew the hex screws on the seat stem clamp on the water bottle bracket. Pull the clamp apart.

    • 5

Push the bracket up against the seat stem on the bicycle so one side of the clamp surrounds the stem itself. Place the other end of the clamp over the stem and align the screw holes on the clamp.

    • 6

Screw the hex screws into the clamp. Tighten so the bracket is firm on the seat stem.

    • 7

Insert the two water bottles into the bracket's bottle clamps.
