How to Fill Air Shocks
Mountain bike suspension systems often use air shocks for either the front fork, rear shock, or both. Air shocks operate with air in a sealed chamber that compresses or expands, depending on pressure from hits and jumps placed on the system. To get the air shocks working properly, air must be added into the chambers. Special air shock pumps are used to get the recommended pressure into the chamber.
Things You'll Need
- Air shock pump with gauge
- Shock user manual and weight chart

Unscrew the valve cap(s) on the shocks.

Attach the air shock pump to the valve/nozzle on the shock. Consult the shock user manual or guide for the recommended setting for your weight and type of terrain your ride.

Pump the air into the chamber of the shock. Watch the gauge on the pump until the proper PSI is reached.

Remove the pump hose from the shock and replace the valve cap.
