1
Insert a socket extension into the BMX pegs. Turn the socket counterclockwise to loosen the nuts inside the pegs and remove the pegs with your hand. The rear wheel is now also able to move.
-
2
Move the rear tire forward enough to remove the chain from the rear wheel and cog sprocket. Then remove the chain.
-
3
Count the number of links on the chain. Make sure the replacement chain has the same number of links. To remove excess links, place the link between the pins in the middle of the chain breaker. Turn the screw on the chain tool counterclockwise until the link is loosened from the chain. Then remove the link.
-
4
Place the replacement BMX chain on the rear wheel and cog sprocket.
-
5
Move the rear wheel back into its normal position.
-
6
Connect the chain's end links together with your hand. Then insert the pin into the link's hole.
-
7
Insert the connected end links between the chain breaker. Rotate the handle on the tool clockwise to tighten the pin in place.
-
8
Rotate the pedals to check the chain is properly installed.
