Position the tire so you have easy access to the valve. Remove the valve cap from the end of the valve, and set it aside in a safe place.

    • 2

Loosen the brass nut at the tip of the valve. This will allow air to go in and out of the valve. Press down on the valve after you have loosened the nut to make sure the air passage is clear. You should be able to hear and feel the air escaping.

    • 3

Attach the pump head to the valve. Lock the pump head in place to prevent air from escaping the tube. If you hear air escaping, it means the pump is not properly attached. Remove the pump and try again.

    • 4

Pump air into the tube. Do three pumps, and then listen to the tube to make sure air is going in. If air is not going in, remove the pump head and put it back on. Fill the tube to the recommended amount of air.

Remove the pump head. Tighten the nut at the end of the valve, and press down on it to make sure air cannot escape. Put the valve cap back on.
