Activities at Burgess Park in Menlo, California

Burgess Park is located in Menlo Park, California, about 40 minutes south of San Francisco. The park is adjacent to the Civic Center complex and provides diverse facilities for many recreational activities. Spanning almost ten acres, park visitors can enjoy a wide variety of outdoor and indoor facilities including tennis and basketball.
  1. Arrillaga Family Gymnasium

    • The Arrillaga Family Gymnasium is a park facility with many uses for recreation. You can join fitness classes that focus on weight loss and strength training. The gym features full-sized basketball courts for youth and adult players, volleyball court and badminton courts. Visitors are welcome to drop in and pay daily fees to play basketball, badminton and volleyball during allotted times. League teams and sport classes are also available for sign up.

    Tennis

    • Bring your rackets and play a round at one of Menlo Park's tennis courts. The park has two lighted courts that require tennis keys for entrance. You can purchase tennis keys at the Burgess Recreation Center. Daily and annual tennis keys are available. Annual keys are good from mid-January through mid-January of the following year.

    Skate Park

    • The park features a 15,000 square foot skate park for skaters and skateboarders. The skate park is next to the rec center and is open from half an hour before sunrise to sunset. All users are required to wear protective gear such as helmets, elbow pads and knee pads. Kids under the age of 14 require adult supervision. The skate park features a grinding rail, flat panel with angle coping, five-feet flat panel pyramid, combo ledge, corner bank, hubba ledges and more.

    Picnic

    • Have a picnic at the park.

      Throw a picnic at one of the many designated picnic areas located throughout the park. Choose from seven picnic areas with barbecue grills, picnic tables, playgrounds and nearby restroom facilities. Park visitors can reserve a spot ahead of time, otherwise availability is first-come first-served. Picnic areas are closed from half an hour after sunset till sunrise.
