State-Funded Summer Camps in Fort Pierce, Florida

Fort Pierce, located in St. Lucie County, rests on the eastern coast of Florida and according to the city's website, contains a population of over 44,000 people. Though there are various summer camp programs in the city, only a small portion of them can claim to be state funded. Luckily, those which do exist often cater to wide age ranges of children and offer a broad spectrum of activities and events.
  1. Youth Empowerment Seminar Inc. Summer Camp

    • The Youth Empowerment Seminar Summer Camp was funded in part by the state and the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency, and in 2009 engaged children and teens with reading, art, cooking, and craft sessions. Children enrolled in the program also took a tour of City Hall, went swimming, bowling, skating, golfing and also participated in a cookout. The program provides breakfast for all children enrolled.

    Lincoln Park Main Street Summer Program

    • The city's own summer camp program was able to begin using a newly completed community center on Lincoln Park Main Street in 2009, and allowed for enrolled children to be separated into different rooms for different craft projects and activities. Open for children and teens, this camp is funded in part by St. Lucie County.

    St. Lucie County Historical Museum Summer History Camp

    • The St. Lucie County Historical Museum Summer History Camp operates over the course of a week, is based in Fort Pierce, and caters to children ages seven through eleven. Focusing on archaeology and anthropology, the camp leads attending children through local archaeological sites and teaching them about various historical groups which have lived in the area.
