Paintball Sniper Strategies
-
Camo
-
An effective paintball sniper will utilize a variety of different camouflage outfits for various landscapes. Choosing camo that blends well with the playing field will allow you to move closer to enemy lines while remaining obscured from view, providing better coverage for your team and increasing the accuracy of your shots.
Nest
-
A sniper nest is a small area that has been cleared out and carefully reconstructed with local material, such as twigs and leaves, to conceal the spot while leaving ample room for a sniper to take position. A sniper's nest can be as simple as a sturdy pile of branches or as complex as a camouflaged roost in a tree. Depending on the size of the playing field, it may be necessary to have multiple nests available to compensate for changes in game play and exposure to the enemy.
Movement
-
Staying in one position for too long will result in discovery by the enemy despite you skills as a sniper. An effective sniper will scope out multiple nests to take position from, and may move debris into the routes between each nest to block enemy view if necessary. Continually moving from nest to nest will make it difficult for the enemy snipers and infantry players to identify the source of your shots.
Scope
-
An accurate gun is useless if you're too far away to adequately gauge enemy position. A gun-mounted scope, whether traditional or laser, will allow you to accurately see farther distances and will aid in compensating for the effect of gravity-over-distance on the paintball. Although laser scopes are the most effective for snipers in a rapidly changing game play environment, the brightness of the scope may give away your position and make you vulnerable to attack.
Gun
-
An accurate gun with an adjustable FPS–feet per second–is ideal for paintball snipers. An adjustable FPS will allow a sniper to calibrate his gun for each shot; a long-distance shot will require a higher FPS to retain accuracy, for example. You will find yourself having to compensate for an inaccurate gun, which could lead to bad habits that make it difficult to use a correctly calibrated gun in the future.
