How to Customize Your Snowboard Goggles

Try riding without snowboarding goggles on your next day at the slopes, and odds are good you won't see anything as you careen wildly down the hill. Goggles are a crucial piece of gear for your snow adventures. Turn those goggles into some custom peepers, and show your snow posse your style. Ideas are limited only by your imagination. In addition to being creative, use practical methods of turning your goggles into the perfect set of snow eyewear.

Instructions

Take your eye prescription, should you wear contacts or glasses, to an optic shop and have custom-made prescription sport lenses made and installed into the goggles. Make sure you tell the technicians to use shatterproof and fog-resistant material for the lenses.

Coordinate the goggle color design with your helmet and snow clothing. Many snowboarding companies make after-market straps for goggles in different colors, designs or prints. Ideas include tribal tattoos, animal themes or Northwest totem motifs.

    • 3

Pick out several lenses for different light conditions. Many snowboard goggles are made to switch lenses as the light changes. Customize with rose, amber, mirror and smoke-colored lenses.

    • 4

Cut the foam around the edges to make a perfect contour for your face. Before cutting anything, make sure to measure twice, and then cut once.

    • 5

Change the slider buckles to custom colors. After-market buckles are available at sporting goods or outdoor outfitters and come in a variety of colors. Ditch the standard black buckles, and add some color to the goggles.
