1
Move your raft to a safe location for the repair and dry it out completely. Locate the leak by placing your hand over the boat and feeling for the air coming out. Stay quiet and you may be able to hear the general area from which the air is leaking.
-
2
Cut a patch for the hole that is at least 2 inches bigger in all directions than the hole. Use a rounded patch instead of cutting square corners as square corners can peel up easily.
-
3
Rough up the surface of the raft over and around the hole with course sandpaper, so that the patch sticks well. Wipe the sanded area clean.
-
4
Apply a thin coat of the adhesive recommended for your raft to both the raft and the patch. Let the adhesive dry thoroughly.
-
5
Apply a second coat of the adhesive to the patch and the raft and allow it to dry for about five minutes. The patch and raft will bond together once the adhesives are dry.
-
6
Use a flat stick like a popsicle stick to press the patch in place and roll out any bubbles. Start from the center and work your way out.
-
7
Allow the patch to cure at least two hours or as long as the kit instructions recommend.
