How to Make My Yak Razor Wheels Go Faster

Scooters are constructed as a riding board set on two in-line wheels, with a handlebar attached to the board for grip. Scooters are used by all ages for many purposes including recreation, commuting and exercise. Razor Scooters, a popular scooter manufacturer, makes performance scooter models designed for speed. Yak designs wheels, bearings and accessories for Razor Scooters and other scooters and skates. By keeping installed Yak scooter wheels well-maintained, lubricated and clean, your Razor Scooter can perform its best.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the front axle bolts using two Allen wrenches. Hold one wrench in place and turn the other wrench counter-clockwise to unscrew the bolts.

    • 2

Remove the front axle and wheel. Remove the first bearing using the edge of the Allen wrench, prying the bearing from the wheel frame. Remove the spacer between the bearing and then remove the second bearing from the other side.

    • 3

Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 for the rear wheel.

    • 4

Soak all the bearings and axles in a solution of acetone or rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt and grime. Lay the clean bearings and axles on a towel to dry.

    • 5

Soak the bearings in a silicone-based lubricant. After lubricating, spin the bearings to remove excess lubricant. Insert the first bearing back into the scooter wheel by aligning it in the center of the wheel and pressing firmly with two hands. Replace the spacer, and insert the second bearing on the opposite side.
