1
Remove the wrist-model computer from the encasing boot. Pull it loose from the side of the boot where the long end of the strap protrudes. Disassemble the short end of the strap on the other side of the boot by removing the spring bar holding it in place with the flat 1.5 mm screwdriver.
-
2
Rinse the computer well in fresh water and dry it completely.
-
3
Push down and rotate the securing ring of the battery compartment clockwise. Use the needle-nose pliers to assist the rotation by placing the points of the pliers in the holes of the securing ring. Use care to avoid damaging the unit. Take off the securing ring.
-
4
Push down on one side of the compartment lid and use a fingernail to lift the edge of the other side. Do not use metal tools to remove the lid because you might damage the o-ring or the sealing surfaces. Carefully lift out the lid including the beeper.
-
5
Take out the o-ring and the battery holder. Remove the battery, being careful not to damage the electrical contacts. Inspect the parts for any evidence of flooding between the lid and beeper or elsewhere around the battery. If there is any evidence of water, take the unit to a Suunto dealer for servicing. Inspect the o-ring. Damage to the o-ring may indicate a sealing issue.
-
6
Observe the battery holder and lid for cleanliness and use a soft cloth to clean them if needed. Insert the new battery in the holder, with the negative pole facing downwards and the positive pole facing upwards. Avoid touching the battery surfaces with your skin and do not touch both poles at the same time. Replace the battery holder in its correct position inside the battery compartment.
-
7
Inspect the new o-ring for defects and then set it in place around the edge of the battery compartment. Avoid touching the o-ring or the sealing surfaces as much as possible to prevent dirt getting on them.
-
8
Use your thumb to press the lid onto the battery compartment, while observing that the o-ring does not protrude at any point around the edges. Slip the locking ring over your other thumb and switch thumbs holding the lid in place while making sure the lid is pressed in completely. Turn the locking ring counterclockwise with your free hand until it clicks into place and locks. The dive computer should activate and go into timekeeping mode.
-
9
Turn on the dive computer to operational mode and check that the display is fully visible, that the low battery warning has turned off, and that the backlight and beeper work correctly. Replace the computer in the boot and secure the short end of the strap with the spring bar, making sure the spring bar is seated correctly.
