How to Ride a Ripstick Skateboard

A Ripstick is much like a skateboard in looks, but with a Ripstick, you do not kick your leg to make it go. Instead, you twist back and forth and your motion propels the Ripstick. Learning to balance is the key to being successful with the Ripstick. Using a partner to hold onto you while you get the feel of the Ripstick is the best way to practice and perfect riding in the shortest amount of time.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand on the Ripstick and practice balance. Have your partner hold onto your shoulders or hold your partner's shoulders. Do not try to move forward on the Ripstick, just stand on it and try to balance for one to two minutes.

    • 2

Begin on even ground, with no incline, and have your partner gently guide you as you coast forward.

    • 3

Rotate your legs and feet back and forth in opposite directions, pushing your right foot forward while pushing your left foot backward, and vice versa. Make the motions as smoothly as possible to keep momentum and balance. Continue to propel yourself with your partner until you feel comfortable trying it on your own.
