1
Find a flat surface you can paint on. Lay down newspaper or a drop cloth if you do not want paint to drip wherever you are working.
-
2
Remove the trucks by inserting a screwdriver into the heads of the screws on the top of the board, to hold them steady, and then using a skatetool to remove the bolts from the underside.
-
3
Sand off whatever artwork or paint is currently on the skateboard.
-
4
Put tape around the upper edges of the skateboard, to protect the grip tape from any paint that may drip down onto it.
-
5
Paint the skateboard with whatever design you have chosen. A base coat, which is often white, is a good idea, but the design is entirely up to you. If you do choose to use a base coat, however, let it dry completely before painting on top of it.
-
6
Paint or spray on the clear enamel protective coat once the paint is completely dry. Let it dry for a few minutes and then put another coat on. You can do several coatings, depending on how much protection you want to give your design.
-
7
Wait until the enamel is completely dry. Put the trucks back on by inserting the screws, then replacing the nuts and bolts with the skatetool.
