How to Fix a Cracked Skateboard Deck
For avid skaters who use their skateboards every day, wear and tear on their boards is to be expected. Each time you grind on a rail, or land a jump, the deck -- the wooden part you stand on -- will be gradually worn down. The deck of your board is composed of layers of wood which, over time, crack and lift apart. Fortunately, if your deck is only slightly cracked, you can repair minor damages yourself without having to buy a new board.
Things You'll Need
- Skateboarding tool or socket wrench
- Wood glue
- Vise clamp (one for each crack)

1
Place your skateboard on a flat work surface with the wheels facing upward. Use a skateboarding tool to remove all the nuts that hold the wheels in place so you have the best access to your deck.
-
2
Locate the cracked area. Most times, cracks will occur between the layers of the wood, which causes the wood to lift apart.
-
3
Insert a good quantity of wood glue into the crack. Use your hands to pull the crack closed as much as possible.
-
4
Use a vise clamp to clamp the crack together as it dries. Repeat this process to repair any other cracks on the deck while you have the wheels off. Wait 24 hours to allow the glue to dry completely and your skateboard is ready to use.
