How to Make a Longboard Backpack

Longboard style skateboards take their name because they are, well, long. Much like a surfboard with wheels, a longboard is a speed and distance style ride versus the shorter stunt type skateboards. Longboards are often used to head off the campus or work because of the stability and speed. You are going to need a way to keep the board strapped to you if you have to take a train or climb some stairs on your commute, making a backpack style carrier a solid option for a longboard. Save money and use an older daypack and some hook-and-loop straps to get a holder for your ride.

Instructions

    • 1

Empty out and clean the old daypack. Be sure to use a daypack that is a backpack carrying style.

    • 2

Set the longboard over the front panel of the daypack, so it rests diagonally across the pack. Keep the wheels and trucks facing up.

    • 3

Cut two hook-and-loop fabric straps. Find two external loops on the daypack where the straps thread through. If there are no external straps, sew the hook-and-loop straps to the outside of the daypack so they are easily accessible to strap the longboard to the pack.

    • 4

Set the board back across the pack with the straps in place. Fold the straps up and around the longboard's trucks and wheels and marry the hook-and-loop fabric together.

    • 5

Put the daypack on and adjust the position of the longboard so it is comfortable. Make sure no part of it hits your head or back.
