Easy DIY Snow Sleds

If you live in an area that usually doesn't get a lot of snow, chances are you don't have an assortment of sleds lying around to choose from. Luckily, you can create makeshift sleds using materials you have around the house. Creating your own snow sled also saves you time and money, since you won't have to hunt through your local shopping and camping centers to find a sled that meets your needs.

Things You'll Need

  • Trash can lid
  • Scissors
  • Rope
  • Large storage container lid
  • Extra-large cardboard packing box

Instructions

  1. Trash Can Lid Sled

    • 1

      Thoroughly wash and dry the trash can lid.

      Cut two holes in the front of the sled where your knees would be if sitting cross-legged.

      Pull each end of the rope through the holes you created, making a loop.

      Tie knots on the ends of the rope so they do not slide back through the holes.

    Storage Container Lid Sled

      Thoroughly wash and dry the storage container lid.

      Cut two holes in the corners of the short end of the lid.

      Pull each end of the rope through the holes you created, making a loop.

      Tie knots on the ends of the rope so they do not slide back through the holes.

    Cardboard Box Sled

      Cut one rectangular side off of the box.

      Cut two holes in the corners of the short end of the cardboard.

      Pull each end of the rope through the holes you created, making a loop.
