    • One of California's most popular snorkeling destinations is the Channel Islands National Marine Park. The islands that make up this park are located off the southern coast of California from Point Conception to north of Los Angeles. Less experienced snorkelers will enjoy Lover's Cove and Casino Dive Park in Avalon. Nature lovers will want to visit Santa Barbara Island for the unique plants and wildlife. Casino Dive Park features kelp forests and four ships, purposely sunken to provide marine habitats. Santa Barbara Island is a resting and breeding area for sea lions. Also found in this area are sea stars, garibaldi, and sea urchins. La Jolla Cove features sheephead, lobster, rays, perch, crabs and starfish. July through October has a lot of clear days with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. You will get cooler days and more rain if you visit between November and April. The temperatures will range from the low 70s to the 40s. Water is clearest between August and October, and murkiest between March and June.
