How to Put on a Snorkel & Goggles

Explore colorful reefs and vibrant marine life under the sea by snorkeling. Snorkeling involves swimming with a mask, a snorkel tube and fins, and required very little training. The tube allows you to swim face down in the water and breathe in air, while a well-fitting mask enables you to view underwater. Proper fitting of your snorkeling gear is necessary to prevent leaks and discomfort while underwater.

Instructions

    • 1

Put the goggles or snorkeling mask on while wrapping the straps around your head. Place the strap at a slightly high position on the widest part of your head.

    • 2

Adjust the strap to fit snugly. Do not over tighten because this will only cause water to seep in. Clear your face of any hair strands; hair that may get between the silicon part of your mask can break the seal and allow water to get through.

    • 3

Adjust the nose piece for comfort and make sure it's not touching the nose.

    • 4

Attach the snorkel to the strap located on the side of the mask and put the mouthpiece in your mouth. Practice breathing through your mouth and not through your nose to avoid fogging the mask.
