How to Dive With No Air Tanks
Scuba divers have the ability to stay underwater for an extended period of time, otherwise impossible without the aid of an air tank. Though this type of diving has numerous advantages, complications can arise that can be deadly. Free-diving is the art of diving without an air tank, sometimes referred to as skin diving. Free-divers put their body into a relaxed state through breathing techniques that allow them to stay underwater longer than normal.

1
Take a deep breath and hold it in for five seconds. Exhale for 10 seconds.
-
2
Take another deep breath. Hold your breath for 10 seconds, then exhale for 15 seconds. Keep repeating, adding five-second increments to the breath-holding until you reach one minute or longer.
-
3
Concentrate on relaxing your body while performing the breathing exercises. Keep the process going for at least 15 minutes. Stay relaxed and do not exert yourself.
-
4
Dive into the water, and kick with your feet, descending to your desired depth. Diving past 33 feet increases the pressure by one atmosphere, and it can be painful.
-
5
Slowly exhale as you return to the surface. Repeat the process as needed while you dive.
