Testing the Temperature Bar Gauge for Engine Coolant
-
1
Check that the parking brake, located on the left-hand side of the front handlebars, is on.
-
2
Warm up the Ski-Doo by starting the engine. First check the emergency stop switch -- located on right-hand side of the handlebars -- is in the "On" position. Also make sure the gear is in neutral.
-
3
Press down on the "Start" button, located near the middle of the left-side handlebar. This will get the starter running and the engine going. Stop pressing the button once the engine has started up.
-
4
Watch the bar gauge that measures the engine coolant temperature, located on the multifunction display in the middle of the driving console. If operating correctly, the red indicator band should move from "Cold" to midway between the "Cold" and "Hot" indicator ends as the engine is warming up.
-
5
Once the engine has warmed up, which could take about 10 minutes, depending on the weather, hold down the brake, which is the lever located on the left-hand side of the handlebar, with your hand. Increase the engine's RPMs by pressing down on the throttle lever, located on the inside part of the right-side handlebar.
-
6
Check the engine coolant temperature gauge once more to ensure that the indicator slowly moves further away from the "cold" end of the gauge as the engine continues to warm up. If the gauge does not move at all as you are starting up and running the engine for several minutes, there is a problem with the unit.
