How to Put Motor Oil in a Snowmobile
With most snowmobiles, putting motor oil in the engine is a more difficult task than with automobiles and motorcycles. A snowmobile's engine components are enclosed in a small space beneath the front panel. With some snowmobiles, such as the Yamaha Matrix and Yamaha Nytro, you must remove parts of the engine to change the oil. This article covers the basic way to put motor oil in a four-cylinder snowmobile.

Park your snowmobile on a level surface.

Warm up the engine for five to 10 minutes. If the snowmobile was recently operated, idle it for 30 seconds.

3
Pull out the oil dipstick located on the oil tank beneath the front panel of the snowmobile on the side of the engine. Clean the dipstick off with a rag. Insert the dipstick into its holder and remove it again.
-
4
Read the oil level by seeing how close the oil is to the line on the dipstick that reads "Full."

5
Add about 1/2-quart of oil and check the level again. Repeat this step until you reach the "Full" line.
