What Are the Causes of Snowmobile Engine Burndown?
-
Improper Installation of Airbox
-
An airbox that is installed incorrectly will cause snowmobile engine burndown. According to Snow Goer, anyone who removes the airbox from the snowmobile should take extra care when putting it back in place. Otherwise, the carburetors draw under-hood air that results in damage to the engine.
Dirty Float Bowls and Jets
-
Part of proper maintenance of a snowmobile is cleaning the engine regularly. If the float bowl and jets are dirty, the engine becomes damaged and results in engine burndown. Owners should either clean the float bowls and jets personally or take the snowmobile to a shop for regular maintenance.
Fuel Oxidation and Corrosion
-
If fuel is left in the snowmobile in the off season, it can oxidize and start to corrode materials in the engine. Usually, the fuel sitting in the float bowl during the off season will cause these problems. Getting the snowmobile properly prepared for summer months will prevent corrosion and fuel oxidation.
