How Do I Change the Skis on a Polaris Indy Sport?

The Polaris Indy Sport is ruggedly designed and built to handle rough, snowy terrain. The skis are a vital part of the snowmobile. Skis are mounted on each side of the front of the snowmobile and play a vital role in the Indy Sport's ability to maneuver and handle sharp turns. Over time, the snowmobile's skis can become worn down and will need to be replaced. It takes approximately one to two hours to change out the skis on the Polaris Indy Sport.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the Indy Sport on a flat, dry and level surface with no incline.

    • 2

Slide the jack under the front center of the snowmobile and jack it up.

    • 3

Remove the bolts on the left and right skis with the socket set.

    • 4

Use a rubber mallet to gently tap out the lock and clevis pins and then gently pull off the old skis.

    • 5

Wipe down the suspension shafts and rods (if they are dirty) with a shop rag. If they appear dry, apply a small amount of grease to the rag and grease them.

    • 6

Hold the new left ski in place and slip the clevis and lock pins into position. Tap them into place with the rubber mallet if need be. Repeat this procedure to install the right ski.

Replace and tighten the left and right ski bolts with the socket set. Lower the Polaris down from the jack once the skis are attached.
