How to Adjust an Atlas Lock Set

The Atlas Snow-Shoe line of trekking poles includes the Lock Jaw series. These trekking poles use the company's adjustable lock set system to lock the poles into the desired height for your hiking or snowshoe purpose. The poles are available in one- or two-lock systems, allowing for customizable adjustments on the go. Benefits to adjustable and locking poles include dropping the poles for needed height on off-camber hikes and using the lock set to keep the pole at the set length.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand straight up and hold one pole in a hand. Grip the barrel dial on the pole and turn it one full turn counterclockwise to open the lock. Pull down on the telescoping pole until the pole reaches the ground. Turn the barrel adjuster clockwise to lock it.

    • 2

Place the tip of the pole on the ground and hold the handle. You should have a 90-degree angle at your elbow. If it's too high or too low, turn the barrel again and push or pull the pole to get the proper angle.

    • 3

Turn the barrel of the lower lock on the Lock Jaw 3 lock set. Pull the pole out and lock the barrel. Turn the lock barrel above the first and pull the pole out. Press the pole to the ground.

    • 4

Push the pole down until you get the desired 90-degree angle at the elbow. Turn the barrel lock sets clockwise one full turn to lock the Atlas Lock Jaw lock sets.
