How to Butter Slide a Wakeboard

Wakeboarding is a water sport where the rider holds on to a rope attached to a boat while standing on a board that glides across the surface of the water. Once you have mastered the art of getting up on a wakeboard, you can begin to try minor surface tricks like the butter slide. A butter slide is when a rider maneuvers from the side of the wake over and on top of it, almost like an ollie in skateboarding. Executing the butter slide properly will require practice and general wakeboarding knowledge.

Instructions

    • 1

Tell your boat driver to slow down once you have been pulled up. This will make it much easier for you to execute the butter slide.

    • 2

Pull yourself up on the wakeboard so that you are gliding behind the boat.

    • 3

Maneuver the wakeboard to either side of the wake by leaning back slightly and using your arms to pull you.

    • 4

Lean against the rope you are holding to glide back toward the wake.

    • 5

Slide your back foot toward the boat at the moment you ride up the side of the wake, while keeping the toe side edge up. Keep your arms strong as the board hops over the wake's side and directly back on top.
