Summer is a time for Dallas children to relax from school. There is no need for children to stay cooped in the house. Many parents opt to enroll their children in a summer camp programs to keep busy. Summer camps are located from the suburban areas of Dallas and within the Dallas city limits. Children will take field trips, swim and learn a new activity while attending summer camp.     • Wonder-Space Computer and Technology Camp afford children the chance to learn about computer and technology through summer camps, proprietary software technology and educational programs. Children may elect to attend a full day or an extended day camp. The most popular camp option is the full day session, where children come in the morning to work on diverse projects and leave in the evening. Summer camp runs from June to July. Campers may learn how to create a game, design a two dimensional multilevel computer game, web design and build a computer. In addition, the camp also offers a math camp to help campers brush up on math skills before school starts.

    T. Boone Pickens YMCA

    • T. Boone Pickens YMCA offers summer camps in downtown Dallas from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Summer camp runs from June to August. Children from 5 years old to 12 years old can attend a one-week session or attend all 10 weeks. Some previous field trips include Splish Splash, Under the Big Top Circus and Dallas Museum of Art. Campers receive a t-shirt with the payment of $35 per child for the one time registration as of 2010. A weekly session ranges from $125 to $150 as of 2010.

    Southern Methodist University Computer Camps

    • The iD Tech Camps at Southern Methodist University offers day camps, overnight camps and weeklong academic camps. Course topics include Flash animation, web design, video game design and programming. Camps are available for children ages seven to 17 years old, however, overnight campers must be at least 10 years old. The camp runs from June to July. The cost of camp is in the range of $779 to $1,249 per week, as of 2010.
