Instructions
-
-
1
Begin by learning the basics of bodyboarding. Enroll in a few bodyboarding classes taught by someone who has competed in various competitions.
-
2
Practice your bodyboarding techniques at least two to three times a week. Have a friend or fellow bodyboarder videotape your practice sessions and review them later to visually see what needs to be improved upon.
-
3
Set your sights on eventually entering the Pipeline Bodyboarding Competition as it is the gold standard in bodyboarding contests. Enter a few smaller competitions on a state/province, or regional level before seeking entry into the Pipeline competition.
-
4
Join the International Bodyboarding Association which will give you an inside track on the worlds top competitions and qualifiers, and gain you preliminary entry into specific competitions sponsored by the IBA. Carefully read all contest entry information as fees and guidelines vary per competition.
-
5
Submit your entry form as early as possible and wait for confirmation that you have been admitted to the contest. Pay special attention to caveats such as equipment limitations, clothing specifics, and seeding (or qualifying) criterion.
