Survival Gear List
-
Bottled Water
-
Water is an absolutely essential part of the human body. Without water, you will not survive more than about three days, as dehydration, dizziness, and confusion set in. It is recommended that you drink four to six liters of water every day in order to maintain the water that is lost during normal activity. This need increases as the temperatures get more extreme.
Pocket Knife
-
A pocket knife can be used for just about anything in a survival situation. You can use it to cut wood and leaves to build a shelter, sharpen a stick to make a spear for fishing, and use it to gut and clean any animal that you may have caught.
Matches
-
Fire is a survivalist’s companion because fire will keep you warm, cook the meat of any animal you may have caught, and signal to others that you are out there. Matches are the easiest way to create fire, but be sure to store them in a waterproof container to keep them in working condition.
Compass
-
If you are lost in the middle of unknown terrain, a compass will be your ally. Using your compass as a guide, you can lead yourself in the right direction to walk out of the wilderness and back to civilization.
Whistle
-
A whistle may seem like and odd item to be on a survival list, but it can be incredibly useful. After days of no food, little water, and maybe yelling your lungs out for help, you may not be up to screaming anymore if you spot rescue. With a whistle, you can simply blow it to let rescuers know you are out there. The whistle will give away your position and hopefully lead to rescue.
