Survivalist Planning
-
Food
-
Stockpile food preserved for long-term storage. Protect food from damage by air, water or vermin, vary the choices to help sustain morale, and assure the nutrients can supplement the diet of your family or feed your group for a period of time.
Water
-
Water is difficult to stockpile because of its weight, leaking and spoilage. Instead, secure purification systems, potable water tablets and alternate methods of purification, along with a small amount of water to serve in the interim.
Shelter
-
Sheltering in your home might not be safe or possible, so emergency shelter should be assessed. Create a list of alternate shelters that offer the amenities you might need and secure adequate camping gear to serve your group temporarily or when on the move.
Medications
-
Collect necessary medications when possible and store them under the conditions needed to keep them viable. Look into alternative treatments and natural remedies if medicines are not available.
Needs
-
Create a comprehensive list of items your family or group might need over time to survive. Begin to gather, inventory and store gear that serves the most vital of these needs first.
Wants
-
Wants might seem out of place in a survival plan, but in the case of widespread breakdown of society or major traumatic experience, there is an even greater need for little ways to buoy the spirit. Small items such as hard candy, a deck of cards or a Bible might serve multiple purposes.
