Facts About Citizens Bank Park

Citizens Bank Park is the home field of Major League Baseball's Philadelphia Phillies. The park is nicknamed "The Bank" and is well known as a fan friendly park. The park has grass turf and is constructed with angled seating and additional bleachers along the roof. Around the outfield is a corridor where fans can visit the park's many concession stands and watch the game. The park also features panoramic views of downtown Philadelphia and the Delaware River area. Seating capacity is 43,500. The first regular-season baseball game at Citizens Bank Park was played on April 12, 2004.

    • Citizens Bank Park is located in South Philadelphia right off of the world famous intersection of Broad and Pattison avenues. The park is accessible by public transportation, including buses from 30th Street Train Station and subway from nearby downtown Philadelphia.

    Watching the Action

    • Citizens Bank Park features bleachers atop buildings around its perimeter. The seating is angled to provide a view of the field and home plate. The outfield features a standing section with direct views of home plate called "Ashburn Alley" in honor of former Phillies player and broadcasting legend Richie Ashburn. Ashburn Alley also has picnic tables and amenities.

    Concessions

    • "The Bank" is also renowned for its famous concession stands. One such eatery is "Bull's Barbeque" which is owned by former Phillie slugger Greg Luzinski. Luzinski works his stand personally during every Phillies home game. Another attraction is Rick's Steaks, which is owned by Philly cheesesteak legend Rick Olivieri.

    Liberty Bell

    • There are actually two famous Liberty Bells in Philadelphia. The one from the American Revolution resides on Independence Mall in Old City Philadelphia. The other is actually much larger than the original and sits high atop Citizens Bank Park. This Liberty Bell chimes after every Phillies home run. It sits over 100 feet above center field with spectacular lights that light up the Philadelphia skyline behind it.
