Educational Field Trips to Charlotte Motor Speedway

Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, was built in 1959 by Bruton Smith. It is a state-of-the-art motorsports complex that plays host to NASCAR racing, including popular events such as the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day Weekend and the Sprint All-Star Race. The speedway offers many educational tours for fans or school children who are planning a field trip. Aside from being educational, the tours are also very thrilling and exciting.
  1. Feel the Thrill on a Speedway Tour

    • This tour will enable fans to know the history of the place and see areas of the speedway that are not usually accessible to fans on race days. The one-hour tour will take fans around the 1.5-mile track on a tour van and let them experience the extreme 24-degree banking in the turns. Fans will also get to travel the two infield road courses, ride down pit road and stop for a picture in Victory Circle, as well as see the garages used for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series located in the infield. Cost for tickets is $9 for adults and children 10 and older and $7 for children 9 and under, military personnel and seniors 65 and older in February 2011. The tour is available during non-event days on Monday through Saturday.

    Over The Wall Tour

    • This tour includes everything the Feel the Thrill on a Speedway Tour has but with added privileges. Fans can walk on the track surface, stroll down pit road, see the amazing views from atop the Ford Grandstand, visit one of the speedway's 113 suites and see the Speedway Club. They will also get a close-up view of the Dirt Track and the state-of-the-art zMAX Dragway. The tour also includes a tour of the Infield Care Center, Performance Racing Network's studios, Victory Circle and Time Warner Media Center. The two-hour tour begins at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Tour Desk located at the Ticket Office lobby and is limited to fans 10 years of age or older. Fans can enjoy lunch at the Speedway Club after the tour. It is advisable to wear comfortable walking shoes since the tour is primarily outdoors and involves long walks. Cost for tickets is $17 for adults and children 10 and older and $15 for military personnel and seniors 65 and older in February 2011.     NASCAR Hall of Fame Tour

    • This brand new tour will take you through NASCAR history and the spectacular new NASCAR Hall of Fame. Fans need not worry about parking or ticket lines since they will be transported roundtrip from Charlotte Speedway to the destination. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is an interactive experience that will surely entertain.     • Fans will get to visit the race shops representing some of NASCAR's most successful and popular drivers on the circuit today and get a glimpse of what a NASCAR team is all about. They can get up close and personal to cars driven to victory lane by famous drivers such as Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Kurt and Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jamie McMurray and Matt Kenseth. Fans can visit the Hendrick Museum, watch a movie in the Roush Fenway ampitheater, get an all-access view behind the scenes at Raceworld USA or tour the "Garage Mahal" at Dale Earnhardt Incorporated.
