How to Qualify at Phoenix International Raceway

The National Association for Stock Car Racing (NASCAR) runs many different races throughout the year in several different divisions. These races are organized into groups. The Sprint Cup Series has two races that take place at the Phoenix International Raceway. To enter this race, a driver must qualify.

Instructions

    • 1

Submit your application to the race at least 13 days before the race. You must also pay the nonrefundable fee of $3,300.

    • 2

Place among the top 35 cars in owner points. These points are earned based on where a car places in each race. If the race is among the first five of the season, last year's owner points are used for qualifying.

    • 3

Win a championship. The past champion automatically qualifies for a spot at the Phoenix International Raceway.

    • 4

Finish in the top seven during the speed trials. If there is no past champion entered into the race, the top eight speeds will qualify. This brings the field total to 43 cars.
