Work out five days a week. James is renowned for his work ethic and dedication to building an already impressive physique. Despite having the genetic advantages of great size, leaping ability and strength, James works out hard to be the best player he can be.

Jump rope. This exercise increases a person's fast twitch muscles, which come into play while dunking the basketball with power. James jumps rope for at least 400 repetitions a day, 5 days a week as part of his regular routine.

Concentrate two workouts a week on your abdominal muscles, shoulders and arms. Incredibly strong abdominal muscles enable James to control his body on the power dunk and absorb contact from other players. The strength in his shoulders and arms allows him to power dunk with tremendous force.

Use resistance training to strengthen your legs for the proper lift on the power dunk. James uses a parachute and a bungee cord to resistance train for more power in his legs. The power in his legs give him great balance and force when he initiates the power dunk move and explodes up toward the rim.
