Top 10 Jordan Dunks

Thought by many basketball fans to be the greatest player of all time (according to a poll conducted on nbcsports.com), Michael Jordan was known for his acrobatic shot creation, high vertical leap, and ability to produce some memorable dunks, which he used to win back-to-back slam dunk contests in 1987 and 1988. Jordan had many awe inspiring dunks in real game situations as well over the course of his illustrious career.
  1. Over Moses Malone

    • This dunk early in Jordan's career featured a one-handed fake pass to a teammate on the sideline, and then a hard drive to the basket, bringing one defender to the ground with a quick cut to the right. At the basket, he then rose up and dunked the ball over the Hawks' center Moses Malone.

    Spin Around the Double Team

    • While playing the Knicks in New York, Jordan drew a pair of defenders as he dribbled down the sideline towards the basket. As the players converged, he backed up, then spun around them both, finishing the play with a dunk over center Patrick Ewing.

    Crossover Dribble Dunk

    • Playing the Lakers on their home court in the 1991 NBA Finals, Jordan faked right and then did a crossover dribble to his left to leave his first defender behind, soaring toward the hoop to dunk one-handed over Sam Perkins.

    Over Alonzo Mourning

    • On a fast break passing sequence, Jordan received the pass on the run near the basket and immediately left his feet, rising high above skilled shot blocker Alonzo Mourning of the Charlotte Hornets for the dunk.

    Cross Court

    • After receiving a pass on the opposite side of the court from his team's goal from a teammate who had just stolen the ball, Jordan then raced down court and took on four defenders of the Miami Heat at once, going behind his back with the dribble before cutting through two opponents and making an acrobatic dunk.

    Under the Basket

    • With the 7'7" Manute Bol guarding him near the basket, Jordan went by him on the baseline and then rose directly beneath the goal, reaching his right arm around to the other side of the rim for the dunk.

    Hang Time

    • In a one-on-one fast break while playing the Detroit Pistons, Jordan went into the air at the elbow several feet from the basket, seeming to float the rest of the way and then dunked over his defender.

    Dunk Between Two Defenders

    • After beating his first defender off the dribble from the three point line, Jordan then reached the basket and managed to split two pairs of hands at the hoop for the dunk.

    Cradle the Baby

    • After stealing a pass in a game against the New York Knicks, Jordan broke away for an uncontested dunk, and he first cradled the ball in one arm like one does a baby before finishing with the slam.

    Free Throw Dunk

    • Against the Portland Trail Blazers, Jordan's teammate was at the foul line and missed his second free throw attempt, but Jordan reacted quickly enough to get to the rebound before anyone else could, grabbing the ball in mid-air and dunking it one motion.
