How to Make a Cheese Grater Hat

For followers of teams playing the Green Bay Packers, whose fans wear "cheesehead" headgear, making a cheese-grater hat seems like an obvious way to show team support. Such outrageous attention-getting props are a fun way to get into the spirit of the game and back your own team. With a few basic supplies you can make your own cheese-grater hat.

Things You'll Need

  • 4-sided cheese grater
  • Narrow ribbon in your team's colors
  • Scissors
  • Paint in your team's colors
  • Paint brush
  • Yellow construction paper
  • Glue
  • Felt

      Attach ribbon to the four corners of the cheese grater to make a chin strap. Use ribbon in your team colors. Thread a ribbon through a hole in the bottom corner of one side of the grater, loop it and tie it closed. Cut the ribbon long enough to tie under your chin. Attach another ribbon to the hole on the opposite corner of the same side of the grater. Repeat on the opposite side of the grater.

      Paint the grater in your team's colors and propaganda. For instance, paint your team's name and logo, scenes of your team's mascot eating cheese or the number of your favorite player.

      Draw a cheese wedge on yellow construction paper. Cut out the wedge and glue it to the top of the grater. Cut small strips of the paper and glue them around the grater to simulate grated cheese.
