Garden Tractor Pull Contest Rules
-
Equipment
-
The term “garden tractor” actually refers to a riding lawn mower. For garden tractor pull contests, lawn mowers typically have modifications to equip them to pull heavy loads.
Restrictions
-
There are often engine restrictions in place regarding the maximum revolutions per minute (rpm). Additional restrictions may be in place regarding the length, weight and other dimensions of the lawn mower.
Age
-
Many garden tractor pull contests will allow minors to participate, often over the age of 12 years old, with parental consent.
Fuel
-
Most garden tractor pulls will disqualify participants for using any form of nitromethane because it gives the puller an unfair advantage. Typically, gasoline, methanol alcohol and diesel fuel are allowed.
Safety
-
Wheelie-bars prevent garden tractors from tipping over during a pull. Additionally, drivers should wear non-flammable clothing, specifically long sleeves, long pants and no opened-toe shoes to protect themselves from burns or other injuries.
